Alkes

Alkes’ ideal environment is contemporary, multi-language websites which desire a clear structure, hierarchy and coherent non-Latin scripts. It features a generous x-height, a low contrast, wide letter spacing, large open counters, distinct letter shapes, simple forms, and consistent weight and thickness. Besides the Latin alphabet, Alkes includes two other scripts: Cyrillic and Greek.

The design of every non-Latin script begins with an in-depth research process: learning about history of each script from written manuscripts through to the digital era. This methodology helps me to understand each script's structure and its current shape. In every typeface I design I’m looking for balance and consistency in terms of its white space and shapes.
